[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) operates a “Monday Night Civil Service Office” every week to provide convenience to civil petitioners such as office workers and students who find it difficult to visit the district office during working hours.
The “Night Civil Service Office” is extendedly operated for two hours every Monday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Civil Affairs and Passport Department and the General Civil Service Office on the first floor of the district office.
Issuance services include ▲passport services ▲resident registration certificates ▲seal certificates ▲birth, death, and marriage registration applications.
Last year, the district operated the “Night Civil Service Office” 46 times and handled about 2,000 civil service cases. Among them, passport services accounted for about 1,800 cases, making up 97% of the total workload. With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and a surge in demand for passports for overseas travel, Yangcheon-gu’s “Night Civil Service Office” has received great response as an administrative service that satisfies residents.
In addition, the district operates 18 civil service guides (volunteers) to ensure comfortable use of the civil service office. These guides assist elderly, disabled, and pregnant visitors by providing directions to service counters, helping with office equipment use, and lending wheelchairs to ensure no inconvenience in handling their affairs.
Furthermore, to allow residents to conveniently obtain necessary civil documents nearby without visiting individual administrative agencies, the district has installed and operates 32 unmanned issuing machines at subway stations with high foot traffic, hospitals, government offices, and financial institutions.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We will continue to do our best to provide more convenient civil services from the residents’ perspective.”
