On the 22nd, Yoon Sang-pil shot 7 under par in the final 5th round of the 2023 Asian Tour Qualifying (Q) School held at Lake View Resort & Golf Club (par 71) in Hua Hin, Thailand, finishing 6th overall (16 under par 339 strokes). This was the best result among Korean players. A total of 77 players participated in the final round of the Asian Tour Q School, with the top 35 earning their tour cards.
Yoon Sang-pil made 8 birdies and 1 bogey. He reduced his score by 2 strokes in the front nine with 3 birdies and 1 bogey, and then made 5 birdies on holes 10, 12, 13, 15, and 18 in the back nine. Yoon debuted on the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Korean Tour last year but did not achieve notable results. His personal best was a tie for 8th place at the Honors K·Solago CC Han Jang-sang Invitational, and he ranked 89th in the money list with 49,895,000 KRW.
Korea also secured cards for Cho Min-kyu in 7th place (16 under par 339 strokes), Jung Han-mil in 8th (14 under par 341 strokes), Kim Min-hwi in 10th (13 under par 342 strokes), Eom Jae-woong in 14th (12 under par 343 strokes), Lee Seung-taek in 28th, and Bae Yong-jun in 31st (9 under par 346 strokes).
Thanks to the Asian Tour joining forces with LIV Golf and expanding in scale, 42 Korean players participated in this Q School. The Asian Tour season will kick off on February 3 at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in Saudi Arabia with the PIF Saudi International, featuring a total prize fund of 5 million USD.
