[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will install a 'Single-Person Household Healing Space' in Hadaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu by June and operate it under a direct management system. Among the 25 local governments nationwide with support facilities for single-person households, Seongnam City is the first to directly manage and operate such a facility.
The Single-Person Household Healing Space will be established on a leased portion of the 4th floor of a private building near Moran Station (230 meters from Exit 4), covering an area of 348㎡ for accessibility. This space will include a psychological counseling room, a shared kitchen, and club rooms.
The main project will institutionalize support for self-help groups of single-person households to revitalize them, and install an artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IOT)-based smart control system to prevent social isolation.
To this end, the city plans to hire private experts as fixed-term public officials and initially assign four staff members.
A city official stated, "Single-person households in Seongnam account for 122,461 households, which is 33.1% of the total households (369,582 households), exceeding the Gyeonggi Province average (30%). We judged that integrated policy responses are necessary due to changes in family structure caused by the increase in single-person households, and decided to directly operate the 'Single-Person Household Healing Space.'"
