Yeonggwang-gun Completes 'New Year Practical Education for Farmers'

This year, due to COVID-19, it was the first face-to-face education in three years, attracting 1,302 farmers and achieving over 130% of the planned attendance, showing strong interest.

The education, held over a total of 10 sessions, is conducted every January to review last year's agricultural weather and status and to establish new farming plans. It covered key cultivation techniques from seed disinfection to harvest for rice farming, as well as high-quality production techniques for chili peppers.

As a touring education held at town and township offices or welfare centers, it provided on-site education that was more accessible to farmers.

In particular, the public payment system education, which is mandatory for farmers registered for the basic direct payment, was also conducted, receiving high responses from farmers.

Additionally, warm tea and snacks served by members of the town and township life improvement association helped boost the study enthusiasm of the elderly who visited despite the cold weather.

Governor Kang Jongman said, "We will do our best for the development of county agriculture this year as well," and added, "I hope that through this education, farmers will acquire new farming techniques, establish farming plans, and achieve a bountiful harvest and increased income."
