Volunteer Activity by Executives and Employees Delivering Heating Oil in Guryong Village
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] GS Caltex announced on the 19th that it will provide 300 million KRW worth of heating oil to energy-vulnerable groups ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This heating oil support project was established to share warm energy with local neighbors struggling due to the recent economic crisis and soaring heating oil prices, and to fulfill social responsibility as an energy company.
As part of the support project, the 'Lunar New Year Heating Oil Support' conducted before and after the holiday will be provided to a total of 210 households, including 110 households in four villages in Seoul (Guryong Village and Chebiji Village in Gangnam-gu, Cheongpa-dong in Yongsan-gu, Baeksa Village in Nowon-gu) and 100 vulnerable households in the Yeosu area, with a total supply volume of 42,000 liters.
GS Caltex employees visited Guryong Village in Seoul on the 18th to carry out heating oil delivery volunteer activities. The employees personally carried and delivered heating oil to elderly living alone and households with mobility difficulties, delivering warm energy to neighbors struggling with the cold.
A GS Caltex official said, "In a situation where economic difficulties are increasing due to high inflation, we decided to support heating oil with the hope that neighbors in energy-vulnerable groups can spend the cold winter a little warmer."
Meanwhile, GS Caltex conducted year-end relay volunteer activities throughout December at nationwide business sites, with 15 programs and about 400 participants targeting socially vulnerable groups.
Through delivering briquettes and daily necessities sets to elderly living alone households and programs for making side dishes and snacks involving employees' families, support was provided to vulnerable elderly and single-parent families.
The Yeosu plant and regional logistics centers also carried out volunteer activities such as kimchi-making and home repairs for children in vulnerable groups, practicing warm energy sharing.
Recognizing the inconvenience visually impaired people face in using emergency medicines during emergencies, GS Caltex employees produced and distributed first aid kits with Braille stickers attached to each medicine to prevent misuse and ensure safe use of medicines by the visually impaired.
