Goo In-mo County Governor: "Doing Our Best to Make Geochang-gun a Place Where All Residents Are Happy and Safe"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 19th that it has enrolled its residents in a resident safety insurance to provide disaster compensation in case they suffer unexpected accidents.
The resident safety insurance automatically covers residents with an address in Geochang-gun and foreigners registered in Geochang-gun. The coverage period is one year from January 22 to January 21, 2024, and compensation can be received for accidents occurring both domestically and abroad, regardless of other insurance subscriptions, allowing for overlapping compensation.
The coverage items enrolled this time include death or disability caused by explosion, fire, or collapse; death or disability from using public transportation; death by drowning; treatment costs for accidents in school zones and silver zones; compensation for injury to persons of merit; death or disability caused by gas accidents; death or disability from charter bus use; death by toxic substances; compensation for aftereffects of blood donation; dog bites; and emergency room treatment costs.
In particular, with the increase in electric kickboard users, additional coverage items for personal mobility device injury death and personal mobility device injury aftereffects were added. For frequently occurring agricultural machinery accidents, the compensation limits for injury death and injury aftereffects were raised, focusing on strengthening the substance and operational efficiency of the resident safety insurance.
Residents who suffer accidents covered by the insurance can claim compensation from the Korea Local Finance Association within three years from the date of occurrence. After review, they can receive up to 40 million KRW in compensation.
Governor Goo In-mo said, “I hope the resident safety insurance will bring comfort to residents who suffer unexpected accidents. Through this enrollment, we will strengthen the social safety net and do our best to make Geochang-gun a happy and safe place for all residents.”
Geochang-gun has been enrolled in the resident safety insurance since 2019, and over the past four years, 1.075 billion KRW in insurance payments have been made for 93 cases.
