Through this agreement, Lotte Tour Development will resume charter cruise operations in June, using Sokcho, Gangwon as the home port, after 3 years and 8 months since the COVID-19 pandemic, sailing to major Japanese port cities such as Aomori and Otaru.
Costa Cruises belongs to the Carnival Group, the world's number one cruise company. Since first partnering with Lotte Tour Development in Northeast Asia in September 2010, they have signed the 11th consecutive operation contract.
Baek Hyun, CEO of Lotte Tour Development, said, "We have overcome the harsh trials of COVID-19 and are able to operate charter cruises again after 3 years and 8 months. In the post-COVID era, we will prioritize consumer safety above all and make thorough preparations to deliver the value of premium tourism to our customers."
Meanwhile, the Sokcho-Japan cruise package (starting from 1,980,000 KRW per person), which Lotte Tour Development has been selling since mid-last month, attracted attention with over 2,000 reservations within about a month.
