Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters, 238 Safety Violations Detected in the Province

Comprehensive Investigations Conducted in Firefighting, Architecture, Electrical, and Gas Sectors

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters conducted a comprehensive investigation in the fields of fire, architecture, electricity, and gas from December 19 last year to January 13 this year, uncovering a total of 238 violations.


The provincial fire headquarters announced on the 17th that it formed a joint investigation team within the province to conduct a comprehensive investigation of 310 locations, including multi-use crowded facilities and facilities for the elderly and children, where a concentration of users is expected during the year-end and New Year period.


According to the headquarters, this investigation was carried out following Governor Park Wan-su’s directive to “avoid formal inspections and aim to prevent fires and disasters decisively with a single thorough inspection to prevent various winter disasters and fires.”

As a result of the joint investigation, a total of 238 violations were found among the 310 targets, with ▲159 corrective orders ▲75 notifications to agencies ▲4 fines ▲166 improvement recommendations issued.


The main violations included ▲violations in the maintenance and management of fire facilities and evacuation/fire prevention facilities ▲deterioration of fire resistance performance such as poor sealing of architectural fire compartments ▲inadequate safety management of electrical facilities ▲failure to install anti-toppling devices on gas storage containers.


In addition, the headquarters reported that immediate corrective actions were taken through on-site consulting for 70 cases requiring technical guidance.


Kim Jong-geun, head of the provincial fire headquarters, said, “We have done our best to strengthen fire safety by conducting comprehensive and substantial joint investigations of multi-use facilities and facilities for the elderly and children,” adding, “We will continue to make greater efforts to create a safe living environment for the residents.”
