[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] An explosion occurred on an oil tanker anchored in the Mae Klong River in Thailand, resulting in at least one death and seven people missing.
According to foreign media on the 17th (local time), around 9 a.m. that day, a fire and explosion broke out on an oil tanker anchored at the mouth of the Mae Klong River in the Muang area of Samut Songkhram Province, about 80 km southwest of Bangkok, causing casualties.
Local media reported that at least four people were injured. The casualties are known to be workers who were working on the ship.
The sound of the explosion was heard within a radius of several kilometers, and thick black smoke was reported to have risen. Windows of houses near the accident site were also broken.
