Jeju-Chungbuk, Exchange Supporting Local Specialties for Vulnerable Groups During Lunar New Year

Jeju Island and Chungbuk Regional Specialty Kimchi Delivered to Vulnerable Groups

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and Chungcheongbuk-do have joined forces to support vulnerable groups using local specialties ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

According to Jeju Province on the 17th, this exchange took place after Governor Oh Young-hoon visited Guinsa Temple in Danyang, Chungbuk last December to promote the Hometown Love Donation System, where he met Chungbuk Governor Kim Young-hwan and agreed to help neighbors in need together while exchanging local specialties.

This time, 83 boxes of Jeju tangerines (5kg) from Jeju Province and 100 boxes of imperfect kimchi (5kg) from Chungbuk were exchanged.

Jeju Province held a delivery ceremony for the imperfect kimchi produced in Chungbuk at the Gwangyeok Food Bank logistics center located in Hwabuk-dong on the same day.

About 20 people attended the event, including Governor Oh Young-hoon, Kim Doo-man, head of the Seogwipo City Volunteer Center, Ko Seung-hwa, chairman of the Gwangyeok Food Bank, and volunteers.

The kimchi delivered on this day will be provided for free meals at the Seogwipo City Volunteer Center and will also be supported to 76 vulnerable households within the province.

Meanwhile, Chungcheongbuk-do plans to deliver 83 boxes of Jeju tangerines to neighbors in need on the 18th in front of the Chungbuk Provincial Office main building, with participation from the Chungbuk governor, Chungbuk Food Bank executives and employees, and beneficiaries.
