Wando-gun Holds 'Major Work Plan Report' Meeting

[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) held the ‘2023 Major Administrative Work Plan Report Meeting’ on the 12th at the county office situation room, attended by the governor, deputy governor, department heads, and team leaders.

According to the county on the 17th, the report meeting will be held over three days until the 18th. It was organized to review a total of 413 key departmental projects and new project plans during this important period for a new leap in the 8th term of the elected government, and to discuss issues and improvement directions.

First, Governor Shin said, “Despite the difficult domestic and international circumstances last year, we actively carried out administration and achieved great success such as attracting the National Maritime Fisheries Museum and passing the preliminary feasibility study for the National Subtropical Arboretum project. Also, five county pending projects including the Gwangju-Wando Expressway were reflected in the national agenda,” expressing appreciation for the staff’s efforts.

This year, he ordered to do their best to ensure smooth progress of key projects such as △ fostering the marine healing industry and marine bio industry △ developing a marine tourism hub city △ early establishment of the National Subtropical Arboretum △ early commencement of the second phase of the Gwangju-Wando Expressway △ construction of the coastal tourism road between Wando and Goheung △ construction of the Yeondo Bridge between Nohwa and Soan △ the 2023 Jeonnam Provincial Sports Festival and the Disabled Sports Festival.

In addition, there was a detailed discussion on specific projects such as long-term measures to overcome drought, tourism revitalization plans linking marine and forest healing, support measures for small business owners, expansion of sales channels and export measures for seafood, strengthening the competitiveness of Wando Geudaero agriculture and livestock industry, and comprehensive inclusive welfare policies.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “This year’s New Year motto for our county, Bidojinse (備跳進世), means ‘Prepare to leap and move forward vigorously into the world.’ Based on the achievements accumulated so far, let us gather the wisdom and capabilities of all public officials to achieve the development of Wando.”
