Hygienic Small Packaging Introduced for Harvested Products from Baegunsan, a Clean Area
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced that it will begin harvesting and selling Baegunsan Gorosoe sap from January 17 to March 17.
This year’s prices remain the same as last year: 22,000 KRW for 500㎖ (10 bottles), 60,000 KRW for 1.5ℓ (12 bottles), and 60,000 KRW for 4.5L (4 bottles). Gorosoe sap can be purchased through the Gwangyang Baegunsan Gorosoe Mineral Water Agricultural Cooperative and local agricultural cooperatives in each town and township.
Gwangyang Baegunsan Gorosoe sap, the first to be registered as the 16th Geographical Indication by the Korea Forest Service, is harvested from Gorosoe trees in the pristine Baegunsan area.

Since the harvesting of Gorosoe sap depends on the weather, it is called the “gift of the spring forest.” Harvesting begins around the time of Gyeongchip (the awakening of insects). Rich in minerals, magnesium, calcium, and vitamins, it contains 40 times more calcium than water. Its osteoporosis-improving effects were proven through experiments by the National Institute of Forest Science in 2009.
Thanks to its benefits, many consumers nationwide purchase Gorosoe sap. Gwangyang Gorosoe sap farmers sell the harvested sap after a hygienic purification process.
Due to these efforts, Baegunsan Gorosoe sap has received the Governor’s Quality Certification for excellent agricultural and specialty products produced in Jeollanam-do. To diversify consumer purchase options, small packaging (500㎖) containers have been introduced, and QR codes containing purification dates and geographical indication history have been added to ensure customer trust.
The city conducted hygiene inspections on purification facilities and machinery from January 12 to 13 before harvesting to ensure consumers can safely consume high-quality Gorosoe sap.
Lee Gangseong, Director of the Forest Income Division, said, “Gorosoe sap contains a large amount of minerals, has a unique sweetness, tastes good, and is easy to drink. We will strive to supply consumers with high-quality Gorosoe sap.”
