Miryang-si Secures Record 459.9 Billion KRW in National Road Funding Over the Past 3 Years

36 Projects Including Sammun-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Miryang City in Gyeongnam has made significant efforts to be selected for public contest projects through timely policy implementation aimed at fostering regional growth bases and discovering future food source businesses. As a result, it has secured a total of 109 projects worth 750.3 billion KRW (national and provincial funds 499.5 billion KRW) over the past three years.


In 2020, it secured 29 projects worth 130.6 billion KRW (national and provincial funds 85.1 billion KRW), including the Sammun-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal project and the Smart Green City project. In 2021, it secured 44 projects worth 184.9 billion KRW (national and provincial funds 118.5 billion KRW), including the Rural Agreement project and the Legal Cultural City project. In 2022, it secured 36 projects worth 434.8 billion KRW (national and provincial funds 295.9 billion KRW), including the region-customized integrated river project and communication cooperation projects, showing an annual expansion in the scale of public contest projects.

Among these, 2022 achieved the greatest success, being selected for public contest projects in various fields such as industry, agriculture, culture, and tourism more than any other year, and is evaluated as having newly secured a new growth engine budget for promoting future food source businesses.


Looking at the details of national and provincial funds secured by major projects: ▲ Regional extinction response fund due to population decline (76.7 billion KRW) ▲ Creation of communication cooperation spaces by regional bases (6 billion KRW) ▲ Construction of Youth Happiness Nuri Center (7 billion KRW) ▲ Geomam District disaster risk area maintenance project (14.9 billion KRW) ▲ Construction of National Sports Center (3 billion KRW) ▲ Region-customized integrated river project (152.8 billion KRW) ▲ Rental-type smart farm project (15.2 billion KRW), among others.


This achievement is the result of Miryang City's active communication with central government departments to promote various public contest projects, as well as strategic responses through meticulous project analysis and evaluation by its staff.


Going forward, the city announced plans to further focus on discovering new public contest projects linked with the national balanced development plans of the government and Gyeongnam Province, and to accelerate changes and development toward becoming a hub city in the Yeongnam region by promoting differentiated projects that embody the uniqueness of Miryang.
