Na Kyung-won: "Dismissal Is Not the President's Intention"... Targeting Yoon's Core Supporters

"There Was Distortion in the Transmission Process"
Interpreted as Targeting 'Yunhaekgwan'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won expressed her view that "she believes the president did not intend" regarding her dismissal from the position of Vice Chairperson of the Low Birthrate and Aging Society Committee.

On the morning of the 17th, former lawmaker Na stated on Facebook, "My dismissal must ultimately be a decision made by the president," but added, "While my shortcomings may have contributed to the decision, I believe there was also distortion in the communication process."

Former lawmaker Na continued, "Victory in next year's general election is absolutely necessary for the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government, which the entire nation has worked hard to establish," emphasizing, "Moreover, the smooth sailing and success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government over the next year is a critically important necessary and sufficient condition for winning the general election."

She also stated, "To achieve this, we need a party leader who conveys the will of the people as it is, not one who drives a wedge between the people and the president, and who corrects distorted reports from some aides," criticizing, "The ruling party leadership that surrounds the president and blinds his eyes and ears will ultimately drive a wedge between the president and his supporters." This is interpreted as targeting the so-called 'Yunhaekgwan' (core associates of President Yoon Seok-yeol), who are at odds over Na's potential candidacy for party leader.

Former lawmaker Na also hinted at the possibility of running for party leader. She said, "We must protect the Yoon Seok-yeol government," and added, "I, Na Kyung-won, who has practiced politics with the spirit of putting the country first and party second, will go to Donghwasa Temple in Daegu to reconsider what will help win the general election." Since her dismissal from the vice chairperson position on the 13th, Na has been traveling nationwide, starting from Guinsa Temple in Chungbuk, contemplating her candidacy for the party leadership election.
