[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City is recruiting the first batch of new students for the 'Ulsan Senior Elementary School,' scheduled to open in March, to support the settlement of retiring baby boomers in the region and promote a vibrant senior life.
The Ulsan Senior Elementary School is a senior-specialized free educational institution established as a campaign pledge of the 8th mayoral administration, providing various and beneficial educational programs targeting retiring baby boomers and the elderly.
It operates to expand customized educational opportunities and to lead the role of the baby boomer generation in the community through talent donation and volunteer activities.
The education is divided into four fields: △General fields (history, financial technology and retirement management, health and medicine, celebrity lectures, etc.) △Specialized fields (senior modeling, Japanese village exploration, smart device utilization, Ulsan 12 Scenic Spots Ssedam Running, etc.) △Leisure play fields (recreation, picnics, sports day, school trips, etc.) △Other fields (volunteering, gardening, arts and physical education, club activities, etc.).
From March to November, over two semesters, the program will be entrusted and operated through the Ulsan Welfare Family Promotion Social Service Center.
They are recruiting 100 new students aged 55 and older residing in Ulsan on a first-come, first-served basis until February 3. Applications can be submitted online via the Ulsan City Public Facility Reservation Service or in person at the Senior Elementary School office on the 2nd floor of the Ulsan Family Culture Center.
A Ulsan city official said, "Through the 'Ulsan Senior Elementary School,' opening this March, we will meet the diverse educational needs of seniors such as retiring baby boomers and provide high-quality education that will become a new driving force in their lives."
