[Asia Economy Reporter Byun Seon-jin] Attention is focused on whether domestic users will soon be able to predict ovulation dates using body temperature data measured by the Apple Watch.

According to the information and communication technology (ICT) industry on the 16th, Apple Korea recently inquired with the Ministry of Science and ICT about a regulatory sandbox review to provide the 'retrospective ovulation date estimation' feature.

This feature was first introduced in the Apple Watch Ultra and Series 8 released last year, but to use body temperature data domestically, it must be registered as a medical device.

An official from the Ministry of Science and ICT said, "It is true that Apple Korea asked about the regulatory sandbox," but added, "It has not been officially submitted yet."

It is also known that Apple Korea has made related inquiries to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the medical device certification and management authority.
