Gijang-gun Intensifies Urban Environment Cleanup to Welcome Returnees During Lunar New Year Holiday

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan Gijang-gun is focusing on urban environment maintenance for the Lunar New Year from the 10th to the 20th to provide a clean and pleasant environment for visitors returning to their hometowns and tourists.

The main maintenance areas include major tourist sites, traditional markets, main arterial roads, habitual dirty spots, and crowded places within the district. The key maintenance targets are illegal dumping of garbage, removal of illegal advertisements, street clutter cleanup, illegal parking enforcement, and maintenance of roadside construction sites.

In particular, January 18 has been designated as the ‘Lunar New Year Urban Environment Maintenance Day,’ during which about 300 people, including public officials, civic groups (Saemaeul, Bareugesalgi, Freedom Federation), and volunteers, will conduct a large-scale Lunar New Year cleaning campaign.

Last year during Chuseok, employees and volunteer groups took part in environmental cleanup activities.

A Gijang-gun official said, “Starting with this Lunar New Year environment maintenance, we will continuously carry out seasonal environment maintenance such as spring cleaning, rainy season, vacation period, and Chuseok preparation throughout the year to create a clean and pleasant ‘Happy City Gijang-gun’ all year round.”
