[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 16th that it will recruit 15 people to serve as the 6th term Gru Managers (private activists) for the Forest Job Development Center until the 20th of next month.
Gru Managers play a role in discovering Gru management entities (resident communities) that will start businesses utilizing local forest resources, and support activities such as field trips, expert consultations, training, prototype market research, business plan development, and incorporation.
The activities of the 6th term Gru Managers will continue for three years starting from April this year. Before full-scale activities, applicants must receive entrepreneurship support capacity-building training, including local resource surveys, business plan development, and business model development.
Recruitment is conducted nationwide across cities, counties, and districts. The Korea Forest Service will form a professional review committee to select the final 6th term Gru Managers through document screening (first round) and interviews (second round).
The schedule is as follows: document submission from March 13 to 20, document screening on March 2 and 3, interview screening on March 14 and 15, and final results announced on March 21.
Detailed information on Gru Manager eligibility, application methods, screening procedures, and excluded areas can be found in the announcement posted on the Korea Forest Service and Korea Forestry Promotion Institute websites.
The Korea Forest Service will also hold an online briefing session via the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute’s YouTube channel at 2 p.m. on April 2. The briefing is designed to help understand the Forest Job Development Center project, the concept of Gru Managers, and their activity plans.
Lee Si-hye, Director of the Forest Welfare Bureau at the Korea Forest Service, said, “Gru Managers serve as a bridge to discover local forest resources and resident communities and nurture them into social enterprises, etc. We hope many capable individuals will participate as Gru Managers who will revitalize mountain villages and create private sector jobs.”
