According to Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Lee Jong-wook) on the 16th, at around 4:16 a.m., a report was received that resident A (in his 50s) in Suchido, Sinan-gun, was experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting.

The Coast Guard urgently dispatched a patrol vessel en route to the scene, boarded A and his guardian, and moved to Anjwa Eupdong Pier, where they handed them over to the waiting 119 ambulance team.

Earlier, on the 15th at 7:32 a.m., the Coast Guard transported patient B (in his 60s), suspected of having a stroke, to the mainland via patrol vessel. On the same day at 1:13 p.m., resident C (in his 80s) of Dangsado, who complained of severe headaches, and at 8:27 p.m., resident D (in his 70s) of Bigeumdo, showing symptoms of sepsis, were each urgently transported to the mainland.

All four emergency patients transported by the Coast Guard patrol vessels were reportedly moved to a large hospital in Mokpo and received emergency treatment.

A Mokpo Coast Guard official said, “At the time of transport, strong winds of 12 to 16 m/s and waves about 2 meters high made patient transport operations very difficult,” adding, “Despite the worsening weather, we are maintaining a state of readiness to respond immediately to emergencies.”
