Improvement of Living Environment Including Water Quality Enhancement in Gojong and Michon Districts
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Miryang City, Gyeongnam announced on the 16th that it secured 23.9 billion KRW in national funds for two new sewer maintenance projects, ‘Gojung District Village Sewer Maintenance Project’ and ‘Michon District Village Sewer Maintenance Project,’ as well as 10 ongoing projects this year.
The two newly selected rural village sewer maintenance projects will invest a total of 23.1 billion KRW, including 7.9 billion KRW in national funds, to maintain sewer pipelines for 224 households in four villages?Gojung, Godap, Golan, and Mojeong in Sangdong-myeon?and 149 households in four villages?Sachon, Dongpyeon, Gumi, and Seopyeon in Danjang-myeon.

The project scale includes a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 85㎥/day and 6.7 km of sewer pipelines in Gojung District, and a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 50㎥/day and 3.8 km of sewer pipelines in Michon District, with active plans to secure sites for the sewage treatment plants.
Through this project, various domestic wastewater discharged from households will be transported to the village sewage treatment plants via separate sewer pipelines, and purified domestic wastewater will be discharged. Additionally, as the existing septic tanks installed in each household will be closed, inconveniences such as odor generation and feces collection that residents have experienced will be improved, greatly contributing to the creation of a pleasant residential environment and living conditions.
Shin Sang-cheol, Director of the Water and Sewage Department, said, “In accordance with Miryang City’s basic sewer maintenance plan, we will continuously secure national budget for sewer maintenance projects to resolve residents’ inconveniences and do our best to improve water quality.”
