UAE Honors President Yoon with 'Taegukgi Symbol' Airshow and Lighting Ceremony

[Abu Dhabi=Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] On the 15th (local time), President Yoon Suk-yeol expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. On that day, President Mohamed held an official welcoming ceremony at the Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace for President Yoon, who had completed his memorial schedule. At the summit held at the UAE Presidential Palace, 'Qasr Al Watan,' the UAE decided to invest approximately 40 trillion won in Korea, and the two presidents signed 13 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) covering nuclear power, energy, investment, defense industry, and more.


On this day, the UAE prepared a variety of lunch menus including camel meat, which is served only to the most honored guests. President Yoon expressed his thanks, and President Mohamed responded, saying, "Although the UAE and Korea are geographically far apart, our cultures and customs of valuing family, respecting elders, and welcoming guests are very similar," adding, "I send warm Lunar New Year greetings to the brothers of Korea and a welcome to their visit to the UAE."

The state banquet was attended not only by President Yoon and his spouse, presidential office aides, and ministers from various Korean government departments, but also by prominent figures from the business sector such as Lee Jae-yong, Chairman of Samsung Electronics, Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, and Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Meanwhile, on the same day, the two presidents signed agreements including ▲ the Net Zero Acceleration Program focusing on joint third-country nuclear power projects, ▲ the Voluntary Carbon Market Partnership involving investment in a carbon trading platform and the establishment and operation of a carbon offset certification center, ▲ international joint development of multipurpose transport aircraft, ▲ hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization within cities, ▲ cooperation in the water resources sector, ▲ administrative arrangements under the Korea-UAE nuclear agreement, and ▲ financial cooperation between the Korea Export-Import Bank and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA). After deciding on the investment in Korea, President Mohamed conveyed to President Yoon, "The decision to invest was based on trust in the Republic of Korea, which keeps its promises under any circumstances."
