[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] An aircraft carrying 72 passengers and crew crashed in Nepal.


According to the Kathmandu Post on the 15th (local time), an ATR72 aircraft operated by Nepal Yeti Airlines, flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara, crashed in Nepal's Kaski District that morning. The number of casualties and survivors has not yet been confirmed.


Nepalese authorities have deployed rescue helicopters to the crash site. Sudarshan Bartula, spokesperson for Yeti Airlines, stated, "The aircraft was carrying 68 passengers and 4 crew members."


Videos and photos believed to be from the scene are being shared on social media platforms such as Twitter. The footage shows the aircraft engulfed in flames, emitting black smoke, while people gather to extinguish the fire by throwing dirt on it.
