Choi Hong-Young, Bank President, Emphasizes Reestablishing Customer Relationships as a Digital Bank
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] BNK Gyeongnam Bank held the ‘2023 First Half Management Strategy Meeting’ at the main office auditorium on the 13th, declaring a new journey together with customers.
At the management strategy meeting, Bank President Choi Hong-young, executives, and about 200 branch managers attended to review the overall process of change, innovation, and communication symbolized by ‘NEW WAVE’ and ‘Digital WAVE’ over the past two years, and to share the 2023 management plan and future vision.
BNK Gyeongnam Bank declared ‘Hi, Digital Bank! A New Journey with Customers!’ as its 2023 management policy, and to achieve this, announced the core strategic tasks as ▲leaping from digital banking to digital bank ▲establishing a proactive crisis response system ▲solid management focused on qualitative growth ▲clean (E), warm (S), and fair (G) management.

In particular, the task of ‘leaping from digital banking to digital bank’ is part of the digital innovation that President Choi Hong-young has continuously focused on since his inauguration, aiming to accelerate digital transformation through digital connection of all operations and strengthen customer-centered digital competitiveness.
Additionally, in the ESG management tasks, the bank revealed plans to fulfill its role as a regional bank by promoting the Green Wave’s 10 strategic projects and expanding local contribution projects such as donation culture spreading initiatives.
The first half management strategy meeting proceeded in the order of the 2022 second half performance evaluation awards ceremony, an external lecture related to platform banks, a review of 2022 and announcement of the 2023 management strategy, and viewing of the CEO special lecture video.
After presentations by each business division, a video showcasing the achievements of newly appointed branch managers in 2022 was shown, followed by a surprise gift from President Choi Hong-young encouraging the hardworking new branch managers, attracting attention.
In the CEO special lecture held under the theme ‘Era of Change, Reestablishing Relationships,’ President Choi emphasized the need to redefine ‘relationships with customers’ and ‘relationships with employees,’ stating, “In the past, customer relationships were defined based on expertise and intimacy, but now we must redefine customer relationships by adding digital and data. Also, relationships with employees must change, and communication through new leadership suited to the times is necessary.”
He continued, “If 2022 was a period of building infrastructure and laying the foundation for a digital bank based on the management philosophy of convergence between digital technology and digital culture, this year marks the beginning of the actual transition to a digital bank. For customers of the new era, we must provide new services as a digital bank through digital technology, data, and collaboration with big tech companies.”
