[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do announced that it will additionally install concentrated lighting devices (LED floodlights) at intersections and crosswalks in the first half of this year to create a safe walking environment and prevent traffic accidents.
Until last year, the city installed a total of 1,008 concentrated lighting devices at 458 crosswalks, and this year, it will spend 150 million KRW to install 63 more devices at 24 crosswalks around traffic-vulnerable areas such as Jasangyo Bridge and Chungmu Mansion.

LED floodlights are lighting devices designed to increase the visibility distance for nighttime drivers, making it easier to recognize pedestrians at night and during rainy weather, thereby preventing traffic accidents. This has also been proven by the Construction Technology Research Institute.
A Yeosu city official said, “Due to the recent frequent traffic accidents at crosswalks, we decided to promote the additional installation of concentrated lighting devices to ensure pedestrian safety,” adding, “We will continue to expand this project for the safety of our citizens.”
