[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] KMI Korea Medical Institute announced on the 13th that it will carry out a social contribution project to support medical consumables for homebound bedridden disabled persons in cooperation with Daegu Jung-gu Office.
This social contribution project was promoted to foster coexistence with the local community where the KMI Daegu Health Screening Center is located and to contribute to the establishment of a care system for severely disabled persons.
Daegu Jung-gu Office is conducting the "Homebound Bedridden Disabled Smile Again Project" this year to improve the quality of life of bedridden disabled persons who are using low-cost medical consumables due to economic burdens.
The support targets 50 homebound bedridden disabled persons who are basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class within the district. KMI will sponsor 30 million KRW to provide medical consumables (diapers, disinfection sets, gastrostomy tubes, etc.) worth about 50,000 KRW per person per month.
A KMI official said, "We have carried out this social contribution project in cooperation with Daegu Jung-gu Office to help improve the health and medical welfare of severely disabled persons," adding, "We will continue to do our best to provide practical help to neighbors in need."
KMI Korea Medical Institute, established in 1985, is a health screening institution currently operating health screening centers in seven locations nationwide: three in Seoul (Gwanghwamun, Yeouido, Gangnam) and four in provincial areas (Suwon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju). It carries out various social contribution projects including early detection and prevention of diseases and activities to promote public health.
