First Record Among Korean Girl Groups Since 2016
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The group NewJeans has topped the Japan Oricon Weekly Combined Singles Ranking.
According to the latest Oricon Weekly Combined Singles Ranking released on the 13th (January 16 issue / counting period January 2?8), NewJeans' new single album "OMG" earned 56,560 points, debuting at number one on the chart.
The Oricon Combined Ranking aggregates CD sales, digital downloads, and streaming counts to determine rankings. Since 2016, NewJeans is the only Korean girl group to have reached the top of this chart.
Previously, "OMG" lit a green light for success by ranking first on the Daily Singles Ranking dated January 6. It entered the latest Weekly Singles Ranking at number two. "OMG" also placed 37th on the latest Weekly Digital Singles Ranking.
NewJeans is performing well on other charts as well. Their debut album "New Jeans" reached 15th place on the latest Weekly Digital Album Ranking, setting a new personal best. On the Weekly Streaming Ranking, the track "Ditto" from the single album "OMG" ranked 9th, the title track "OMG" ranked 15th, and their debut song "Hype boy" ranked 41st.
Following the record-breaking first-week sales (based on release date) of their debut album "New Jeans," NewJeans has accumulated over 1.58 million total shipments including the single "OMG."
