Over 200 Ideas Discovered Through Yakja Donghaeng Project Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 13th that it has discovered 198 ideas through a project contest related to ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable.’
Seoul Facilities Corporation is a public enterprise under the Seoul Metropolitan Government that professionally manages various urban infrastructure closely related to the daily lives of Seoul citizens, including cultural and sports facilities such as Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul World Cup Stadium, Cheonggyecheon Stream, and Seoul Children’s Grand Park, as well as memorial facilities, car-only roads like Dongbu Expressway and Olympic-daero, underground shopping malls, and public bicycles called Dareungi.
Since October last year, the corporation has conducted a contest targeting citizens and employees on the major municipal issue of ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable,’ discovering 198 projects aimed at protecting the vulnerable. The corporation plans to use these as reference materials when promoting related projects.
Among the 198 proposals for vulnerable protection projects, ideas such as ▲ installing new family seats for families with young children in the outfield seats of Gocheok Sky Dome ▲ creating an obstacle-free walking path for the mobility-impaired in certain sections of Cheonggyecheon ▲ operating digital signage at Seoul World Cup Stadium were selected as excellent projects after review by the corporation’s business departments.
The ‘New Installation of Family Seats for Families with Young Children at Gocheok Sky Dome’ is an idea to convert the outfield seats into seating and play areas where families with young children can enjoy together. The ‘Safe Walking Path Creation in Cheonggyecheon’ involves removing obstacles from certain sections of the walking path and installing dedicated signboards for mobility-impaired individuals.
Additionally, the ‘Digital Signage at Seoul World Cup Stadium’ is an idea to operate various information display boards and kiosks throughout the stadium to ensure a comfortable viewing environment.
The corporation plans to prioritize these three projects and actively reflect and promote other discovered ideas after internal review.
Seoul Facilities Corporation Director Young Han Kim stated, “We will sincerely work to realize the many creative ideas proposed through this contest so that they can contribute to actual protection of the vulnerable and enhancement of citizen safety and convenience,” adding, “We will continue to actively discover and promote services related to walking together with the vulnerable across all projects.”
Meanwhile, Seoul Facilities Corporation is currently conducting various projects related to protecting the vulnerable, including the ‘Weekend Outing Service for the Disabled’ using buses for the disabled, ‘Electrical Inspection Service’ for elderly tenants in underground shopping malls, and ‘Rest Area Improvement Projects’ for cleaning, driving, and management staff working at citizen contact points.
