On the afternoon of the 12th, JoongAng Ilbo posted a statement titled "We Apologize to Our Readers" on its homepage, stating, "It has been revealed that a former senior official of JoongAng Ilbo conducted financial transactions with Kim Man-bae, involved in the 'Daejang-dong suspicion,' from 2018 to 2020," and added, "JoongAng Ilbo deeply regrets the actions of the official, which violated journalistic ethics."

JoongAng Ilbo said, "The official submitted a resignation letter on the 11th, taking moral responsibility during the investigation process, and the company accepted it," and added, "We will reorganize our systems to prevent such incidents from recurring."

JoongAng Ilbo plans to publish an apology statement in the print edition on the 13th.
