[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Seo Young-seo] Muan Police Station (Chief Park Sam-hyun) awarded a letter of appreciation on the 11th to an employee of Samhyang Nonghyup Namak Branch for their meritorious service in preventing voice phishing.


According to Muan Police Station on the 12th, on the 10th, a victim who visited the Nonghyup tried to withdraw the entire amount of 32 million won in cash, claiming that he needed to pay labor costs for his son's business. The employee, suspicious of the situation, persuaded him that it might be voice phishing, but the victim became angry and did not listen, so the employee promptly reported it to the police.


Police who arrived at the scene confirmed the conversation on the victim's mobile phone instructing to hand over cash to the collector, promising a low-interest refinancing loan, deleted the malicious app installed on the phone, and reset it to prevent damage.


Park Sam-hyun, chief of Muan Police Station, said, "We deeply appreciate the financial institution employee who actively responded to the voice phishing crime," and added, "We will continue to do our best to prevent voice phishing through close mutual cooperation between the police and financial institutions."
