Police Officer Suspended Pending Investigation for Demanding Sexual Relations in Exchange for Resolving Child's Case

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] A police officer was placed on administrative leave after making inappropriate demands, including sexual relations, to the mother of a suspect whose case he had resolved.

The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 12th that Officer A was placed on administrative leave the previous day. According to the police, Mr. A reportedly invited Ms. B, the mother of the suspect whose case he had resolved at the end of last year, to a drinking gathering and made inappropriate remarks, including demanding sexual relations. It is also reported that Mr. A attempted physical contact several times during the drinking session. Afterward, when Ms. B conveyed through text messages that she felt 'sexual humiliation,' Mr. A even tried to settle the matter with money.

The police plan to conduct further investigations into Mr. A and proceed with disciplinary actions. A police official stated, "It has been confirmed that Mr. A engaged in inappropriate conduct while performing his duties, so he has been placed on administrative leave and excluded from his duties."
