[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunji Kwon] U.S. President Joe Biden said on the 11th (local time) regarding the nationwide suspension of domestic flights in the United States, "Aircraft can still land safely, but taking off is not allowed right now."

President Biden made this remark during a meeting with reporters, mentioning that he had spoken with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. He said, "The Department of Transportation still does not know the cause," and added, "I told Secretary Buttigieg to report to me immediately if the cause is found." He further stated, "We expect to know what caused this situation within a few hours, and they will report to me then."

The White House also stated that there is no evidence so far indicating a cyberattack.

On the same day, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an order to suspend all domestic flights until 9 a.m. The cause was identified as a computer error in the NOTAM system, which provides information pilots must check before takeoff. The FAA said in a statement, "We are still working to fully restore the NOTAM system," adding, "Some systems have been restored, but operation remains limited."

This incident has caused disruptions in American Airlines' flight operations, and United Airlines has also temporarily suspended domestic flights.
