First Lady Kim Geon-hee Volunteers for Meal Service in Daegu Ahead of Lunar New Year Holiday

Exchanging New Year Greetings and Delivering Winter Supplies

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, visited a social welfare center in Daegu on the 11th to volunteer for meal service ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.


According to a press release from the presidential office, Kim participated in meal service with university student volunteers affiliated with the Saemaul Undong Central Association at the Daegu Seongseo Comprehensive Social Welfare Center that morning. This volunteer activity took place after Kim accepted an invitation from the Saemaul Undong Central Association.


Kim served meals to over 120 elderly people. She also exchanged New Year greetings and distributed winter items such as scarves and slippers.

This marks Kim’s first public volunteer activity in three weeks. On December 22, ahead of Christmas, she participated in a volunteer event delivering 'Hope Boxes' containing groceries in the Namdaemun shantytown in Seoul.


Having mainly engaged in volunteer activities for the underprivileged, Kim has recently expanded her range of activities, attending the New Year’s greeting event on the 2nd, the New Year’s greeting event and concert for cultural artists on the 4th, and on the 9th, visiting the special literary exhibition 'Yi Sang, Yeom Sang-seop, Hyun Jin-geon, Yoon Dong-ju, Strolling through the Blue House' held at the Blue House Chunuchu-gwan, where she also met with related personnel.
