[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Shinangun branch of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations (hereinafter referred to as Korea Federation of Arts and Culture, or Korea Yesong) is scheduled to hold its inauguration around the 27th, after receiving approval on December 17 last year.

Until now, the Shinangun branch operated together with the Mokpo branch, based in Mokpo, as the Mokpo-Shinan Yesong, and in August last year, it met the conditions for establishing the Shinangun branch.

Shinan-gun was separated from Muan-gun in 1969, but until the government office moved to Aphae-eup in 2011, administrative work was carried out for 42 years at the old government office located in Bukgyo-dong, Mokpo City.

Since the Shinan-gun office was in Mokpo, institutions and organizations were also based in Mokpo and operated there, and artists were active as members of the Mokpo-Shinan Yesong branch.

According to Article 4, Paragraph 3 of the Korea Yesong’s “Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of Federations and Branches,” the conditions for establishing a branch require that the branch’s member organizations be composed of three or more association branches approved by Korea Yesong member organizations.

In Shinan-gun, the Shinangun branch of the Korea Writers’ Association (established July 24, 2015), the Shinangun branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association (established January 22, 2020), and the Shinangun branch of the Korea Music Association (established August 1, 2022) were established, fulfilling the conditions for branch establishment.

After the efforts of the heads and members of each association’s branch, the establishment of the Shinan Yesong was approved on December 17 last year, 53 years after the founding of Shinan-gun.

The Shinan Yesong elected Kim Eun-ok as branch president (former head of the Shinangun branch of the Korea Fine Arts Association), Senior Vice President Moon Anna (head of the Shinangun branch of the Korea Music Association), and Vice President Kim Sun-woo (head of the Shinangun branch of the Korea Writers’ Association), with about 100 artists active as members of Shinan Yesong.

Branch President Kim Eun-ok expressed her aspiration, saying, “We will strive to enhance the artistic value of the Shinan regional culture and create a culture that coexists with the residents.”

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “The help of Shinan Yesong is essential in raising the value and status of culture and arts and creating a Shinan-gun where anyone can freely create and enjoy culture,” adding, “We will actively support the activities of Shinan Yesong so that 1004 cultural arts can bloom.”
