Vice Chair Na said at the New Year's meeting held at Dongjak-gu Office that morning, in response to reporters' questions about whether she would run for the 3.8 People Power Party leadership election, "I am considering whether to run or not."

She said, "I am deeply considering what choice is right for the Republic of Korea, what choice protects the country's liberal democracy, and what choice is good for the future of the People Power Party to create a better Korea."

After recently proposing a low birthrate measure that forgives loans upon childbirth, Vice Chair Na has faced criticism from the Presidential Office and pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Suk-yeol) faction lawmakers, accusing her of "self-politics." In response, Vice Chair Na tendered her resignation to the Presidential Office the day before.

Vice Chair Na said, "I have not yet been notified whether the (President's) resignation has been accepted, and I am not attached to any position," adding, "I am grateful to the people and to those who have supported me."
