Namwon-si Conducts Safety Inspections of Traditional Markets and Large Store Facilities

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk conducted a joint public-private safety inspection on traditional markets and large stores, which are multi-use facilities frequented by citizens and tourists, during the Lunar New Year holiday from the 9th to the 10th.

According to the city on the 10th, the inspection targeted traditional markets and large stores, with a joint inspection team formed including Namwon City, the fire station, the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and the Korea Gas Safety Corporation.

The main inspection items included checking for defects such as damage or cracks in the structural parts of the facilities and leaks. For electricity, they checked for overloads and overvoltage in power meters, and for gas, they verified the possibility of fire and leaks in gas pipelines.

Regarding fire safety, the installation and operational status of fire extinguishing equipment were the focus of the inspection.

Minor issues identified during the safety inspection were immediately corrected, and repairs for other facilities are planned to be completed before the holiday.

The city plans to do its best to prevent accidents by taking emergency measures and issuing usage bans for facilities with a high incidence of accidents.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik stated, “We will do our best to ensure that citizens and returning visitors can safely use traditional markets and large stores,” and added, “We ask all facility managers and users to take an active interest and cooperate to prevent safety accidents in advance.”
