Hyundai Engineering Obtains Domestic and International Nuclear Power Plant Certifications

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hyundai Engineering announced on the 10th that it has obtained all domestic and international related quality certifications to enter the nuclear power EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) business.

First, in November last year, it acquired the Korea Electric Power Industry Code (KEPIC) certification. This is a qualification system established to ensure the safety and reliability of power equipment at nuclear power plants. Through this evaluation, it obtained certifications as a nuclear machinery installer, nuclear structural constructor, and nuclear electrical and instrumentation control installer.

In March last year, it also obtained certification from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for nuclear sector installation, factory assembly, and support fabrication. This certification is essential for winning and executing overseas nuclear projects.

A Hyundai Engineering official said, "Over the past year, we have acquired all nuclear quality assurance certifications both domestically and internationally," adding, "We expect that the micro modular reactor (MMR) and small modular reactor (SMR) projects, which are being promoted as new businesses, will gain further momentum."
