[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao Games announced on the 10th that it will accelerate the strengthening of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management through the operation of an ESG promotion organization, including activities for regional community coexistence and environmental protection.
Last year, Kakao Games established the ESG Committee and the Compensation Committee under the board of directors and formed a separate ESG task force called the ESG Team, completing the establishment of an organization to strengthen ESG management. The ESG Committee deliberates and resolves major policy matters related to ESG management, while the Compensation Committee promotes responsible corporate management by designing transparent and reasonable compensation policies.
A Kakao Games official stated, “Kakao Games plans to accelerate the development of ESG and social contribution projects by establishing the necessary internal organization and governance environment for ESG management. In particular, we will continuously introduce differentiated ESG projects unique to Kakao Games, such as game-linked social contribution campaigns where players can donate while playing games.”
Meanwhile, even before the establishment of the ESG Committee, Kakao Games has been carrying out social contribution activities to expand sustainable social value. Under the vision of “Dagachi Game,” which means making people’s daily lives happier together through the “fun of games,” Kakao Games has been conducting various social contribution activities such as “Visiting Friends Game Land,” “In-house Goods and PC Donation Campaign,” “Youth and Young Adult Digital Supporters,” and “Support for Digital Education Activities” to nurture future talents.
