A learning community refers to a group where teachers working side by side collaborate, practice, and grow together for students' classes and educational activities.
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education established the policy "Professional Learning Community 2.0 Deepened through Empathy and Fulfillment" after collecting opinions through policy idea contests, joint training for field-customized integrated support, and practical field support consultations, and informed schools accordingly.
This year, three core tasks will be promoted: operating the deepened Professional Learning Community 2.0, providing field-customized integrated support for Professional Learning Community 2.0, and intensifying school monitoring centered on field support.
New initiatives include the "March Intensive Exploration" that supports substantial operation of professional learning communities within schools by adding heart and thought, the "Online Network by School Administrator Regions" for 2.0 field-customized integrated support, and "Non-face-to-face Monitoring" to minimize burdens and improve efficiency at school sites.
Support for the on-site establishment of learning communities that grow together will also be provided through the "Online Network by School Work Managers Regions" for information sharing and work support of responsible teachers, strengthening the operation of the "Institution (Department) Work Managers Council" for school support policy development, and operating the "School Administrator Professional Learning Community" focused on supporting professional learning communities within schools.
An official from the Ulsan Office of Education said, "We hope that Professional Learning Community 2.0 will become the greatest vessel that actively facilitates sharing and fulfillment in classes and educational activities, and further embodies the collective intelligence of school members regarding the present, future, and future education of schools."
