Voluntary Employee Donation Auction Bazaar Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] Yuhan Corporation announced on the 9th that it has donated a total of 18.23 million KRW to the Milal Welfare Foundation's Goodwill Store to promote welfare for people with disabilities. The donation was raised through proceeds from a recent auction of donated items and a bazaar event.
Yuhan Corporation has been holding the donated goods auction event for the fourth consecutive year this year, aiming to raise funds and promote an eco-friendly culture through the reuse of goods. Yuhan explained that both the donation and purchase of items are carried out through the voluntary participation of its employees.
Employees, including President Wookje Cho, donated items such as clothing, accessories, small home appliances, and daily necessities. Approximately 300 employees participated daily in the online auction held over two days starting from the 26th of last month. Following that, the bazaar held on the 28th and 29th sold daily necessities donated by Yuhan Corporation, employee-donated items, and products received by the Goodwill Store.
An employee of Yuhan Corporation who participated in the event said, "I felt proud that simply purchasing necessary items through the auction and bazaar could help the environment and people with disabilities."
Since 2018, Yuhan Corporation has been converting annual employee volunteer hours into monetary value and donating it along with auction proceeds. Even last year, when face-to-face volunteering was difficult due to COVID-19, employees engaged in a total of 2,842 hours of volunteer activities through non-face-to-face activities such as plogging (jogging while picking up trash) and online mentoring for elementary, middle, and high school students. In October, about 400 employees donated 20,000 pieces of clothing and goods to the Goodwill Store through the in-house donation campaign "Closet Cleaning for the Earth."
Additionally, Yuhan Corporation, along with the Yuhan Foundation and its affiliates, donates funds annually at the end of the year. Last year, a total of 400 million KRW was donated to the Community Chest of Korea.
A Yuhan Corporation official stated, "We plan to continuously promote activities that consider the local community and environment to lead ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and practice the founder's spirit."
