Ministry of Industry Increases Winter Energy Voucher Support Rate by 7,000 Won

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 9th that it will increase the average support amount per household for the winter energy voucher by 7,000 won to reduce the energy cost burden on vulnerable groups ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The energy voucher is a system that supports energy purchase costs such as electricity and city gas for heating and cooling to energy-vulnerable groups.

This is the third time the energy voucher support amount has been increased, following two times last year. The application deadline for the energy voucher will also be extended. It will be extended by two months from December 30 last year to February 28 this year, and continuous promotion will be carried out to eligible households in cooperation with local governments and welfare-related organizations.

Households eligible for the energy voucher can apply at the administrative welfare centers in their resident registration area’s eup, myeon, or dong, or through the Bokjiro portal.
