Reiterating the '3 Major Reforms' at the Chief Secretary Meeting... "The Goal is Livelihood and Economy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Seok-yeol mentioned the three major reform tasks (labor, education, and pension) on the 9th, stating that "they cannot be postponed in order to secure the future competitiveness of the Republic of Korea."
On the same day, President Yoon held a senior secretaries meeting at the Yongsan Presidential Office in the morning and reiterated his commitment to reform, saying, "The goal of reform is solely to revive people's livelihoods and the economy."
In particular, President Yoon said, "The obsession with vested interests is persistent, and compromise with vested interests is easy," adding, "Reform is essential not as a matter of choice but for the survival and future of the Republic of Korea."
President Yoon's judgment is that "there is no way for us to survive other than reform," and he instructed his aides, "I hope you will push forward reform tasks with a sense of urgency for the future of the Republic of Korea and explain the purpose and progress of the reforms in detail to the public and the National Assembly." He added, "Reform can succeed only when it is carried out with the support of the people and together with them."
