[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on the 9th that it will distribute the revised edition (6th edition) of the "Parenting Guide for New Dads," which contains childcare information that dads should know.

The parenting guide, first published in 2014, was created with the participation of experts from various fields such as pediatric professors and child psychology counselors.

It includes childcare information that husbands and fathers need to know from early pregnancy until the child turns five years old, such as age-specific developmental information, emergency response guidelines, play and communication methods.

In particular, it contains childcare tips from a group of 100 dad mentors on challenging parenting situations that new dads may face, such as "a child who cries when seeing strangers" and "the first child who becomes lethargic after a sibling is born."

It also reflects government support policies under the Ministry of Health and Welfare that have changed starting this year. Information on how to apply for and the timing of payments for the "parental allowance," which provides 700,000 KRW per month for children aged 0 and 350,000 KRW per month for children aged 1 starting from January this year, is included.

The revised edition will be distributed in 58,000 copies targeting city, county, and district health centers that handle pregnancy and childbirth-related services.
