Gori Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Gori Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 resumed power generation at 1:15 a.m. on the 6th and reached 100% normal output at 5:30 p.m. on the 8th.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters (Head Lee Kwang-hoon) announced on the 9th, "We have identified the cause of the malfunction and completed maintenance of Gori Unit 3 (Pressurized Water Reactor, 950,000 kW), which was shut down due to the operation of the generator protection relay on December 22 last year."
It was confirmed that Gori Unit 3 automatically shut down the turbine generator and reactor due to the operation of the generator ground overvoltage protection relay caused by insulation damage at the cable connection of the exciter transformer.
The Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters explained that the problematic cable connection was replaced from a heat-shrink type to an improved assembled type, and the equipment's integrity was confirmed through performance testing.
A representative of the Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters stated, "We plan to verify the local integrity of the cables through periodic cable diagnostic tests."
