[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Dooyul] The Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Dongseo University was recently selected as the University of the Year by winning the Grand Prize and Gold Prize at the ‘Seoul Video Advertising Festival YCA (Young Creative Awards)’.
At the awards ceremony held on the 5th at the COEX Auditorium in Seoul, Dongseo University received awards for a total of nine teams, including one Grand Prize team, one Gold Prize team, and seven Finalist teams, making it the university with the most awards and earning the title of ‘University of the Year’.
The Seoul Video Advertising Festival, which began in 2003, marked its 20th anniversary this year and is the largest video advertising festival in Korea.
The festival is held under the slogan “With the most popular perspective, the fairest judgment,” and is an online and offline video advertising festival where not only industry professionals but also general advertising enthusiasts can participate in the judging process.
The winning works are selected through a three-stage process: first, professional advertisers’ judging; second, TVCF member online judging to select the finalists; and third, fair judging by the final judging panel to determine the winners.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the work titled “Something That Could Happen to You,” created by Advertising and Public Relations students Seong Minjae, Seo Chaebin, Yoo Jiho, and Jeong Hyunwoo.
The work, produced in collaboration with the National Police Agency, aims to prevent telephone financial fraud (voice phishing) and has recorded over one million views on YouTube.
Students Kim Daeyeop, Kang Dongho, Kim Yujin, and Lim Hyejeong received the Gold Prize for their submission “Fake Boss,” which allows new employees to fit virtual suits during video interviews.
Student Seong Minjae said, “I am honored to receive such a grand award, and I am very happy that our university was selected as the University of the Year. I want to thank my teammates who worked hard together and share this joy with my family and professors who always supported me.”
