[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kim Young-jip, Director of Gwangju Technopark, has been appointed as the 26th President of the Korea Technopark Promotion Agency. The term is one year, until January 1 of next year.
He has served as Director of Education at the National Balanced Development Committee, Head of the Corporate Doctor Center in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, and Vice President for External Affairs at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology. He is leading corporate development and policy planning efforts to respond to the regional economic crisis and revitalize the local economy by fostering the semiconductor and battery industries, establishing a specialized complex for future car materials and components, building a governance council for industry-academia-research collaboration, and activating a regional policy data platform.
He stated, “As a network hub of Technoparks, which are key institutions for fostering regional industries, I will strive to promote exchange, cooperation, and dissemination of achievements among Technoparks, the central government, local governments, related organizations, and overseas institutions.” He added, “I will support research and education to lead regional innovative growth and produce many achievements.”
