Manufacturer: "Individual Vehicle's One-Time Accident"
A driver of an electric vehicle that suddenly stopped for unknown reasons while driving on the highway had to endure about an hour of fear, a story that has come to light.
According to KBS on the 6th, Mr. A, who drives a vehicle from a domestic manufacturer, experienced the vehicle stopping while driving near the Seoyongin Junction on the 14th of last month.
Mr. A said, "I was driving at a set speed of 100 km/h, but the speed gradually decreased by 5 to 10 km/h," adding, "Since the vehicle wouldn't move, I couldn't even pull over to the shoulder."
It was about an hour after charging the battery at the Chungju Rest Area, having departed from Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk, two hours earlier. There were three people in the vehicle, including Mr. A and his family.
Mr. A's family had to wait for a tow truck for over an hour in the middle of the highway, facing the risk of a major accident that threatened their lives.
The vehicle manufacturer stated, "Upon inspection, there was a poor connection in the wiring part that connects the electric vehicle battery," and "It appears that an assembly defect caused the power output limitation." They also emphasized that this is not a frequent malfunction for this model and that it was a one-time incident for this individual vehicle.
