Launch of the Korea-US Literary Quarterly 'K-Writer'

[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Writer Co., Ltd. has launched the Hallyu literary magazine ‘K-Writer (Keiraiteo),’ which introduces Korean literary works such as poetry, essays, novels, and criticism by writers active both domestically and internationally, as well as various K-content. It aims to expand the base of K-literature worldwide and to foster the autonomous survival and value growth of writers practicing Korean literature abroad.


Professor Bang Minho of the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Seoul National University was appointed editor-in-chief, and Park Inae, president of the Dallas Korean Literature Association, was named editor-in-charge. Professors Yu Seongho, dean of the College of Humanities at Hanyang University; Hong Yonghee of the Department of Media Literary Creation at Kyung Hee Cyber University; Lee Nam of the Department of Film at Chapman University in the U.S.; and Lee Hyangjin of the Department of Film at Rikkyo University in Japan participated as editorial board members.


The first special feature announcing the start of ‘K-Writer’ was curated by poet Do Jonghwan. It includes five new poems such as ‘Bakkat’ (Outside) along with five representative poems including ‘Damjaengi’ (Ivy) and ‘Heundeullyeomyeo Pineun Kkot’ (Flowers Blooming While Swaying), presented in both Korean and English.


‘K-Poem’ highlights works by poets from Korea, North America, and Asia. It explores poetry by leading Korean poets such as Shin Kyungrim, Na Taeju, Ando Hyun, Na Hideok, and Moon Taejun. The issue also features a pictorial essay by Korean-American writer Kim Haeyeon, an essay by Zainichi translator Lee Yusuk, and literary criticism by critic Bang Minho.
