CoAsiaOptics, Patent for 108 Million Pixel Ultra-High Resolution Optical Lens

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Camera module specialist CoAsia Optics announced on the 5th that it has registered two patents related to ultra-high-resolution optical lenses.

Each consists of 7 and 8 lens elements respectively, forming 108M-class (108 million pixels) optical lenses that can be installed in smart devices. The strategy is to secure the market by applying these miniaturized high-resolution camera modules to various smart devices.

Previously, CoAsia Optics registered a patent for an ultra-high-resolution mobile camera optical lens in 2020. It features 6 lens elements and supports 100M-class (100 million pixels) ultra-high resolution.

Increasing the number of lens elements allows for higher resolution suitable for ultra-high megapixels. However, the difference in total length due to the number of lenses makes miniaturization difficult. It also has the drawback of reducing brightness performance.

CoAsia Optics minimized the total length between lenses, thereby enhancing brightness performance along with miniaturization. This enables both high-resolution performance compatible with ultra-high-resolution image sensors and compact size.

A CoAsia Optics representative said, "Recently, camera modules are being installed in various fields such as smart devices, electronic devices, and automobiles," adding, "Effectively designing optical lenses is key as 100M-class and above ultra-high-resolution image sensors are commercialized."
