[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The ‘Living SOC Complex Project’ prioritized by Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is bearing fruit as if a sailboat catching a favorable wind.
According to Buk-gu on the 5th, the ‘Usan Public Parking Lot’ project, promoted as part of the Usan-dong Living SOC Complex Project, has been completed and will officially open on the 6th.
The area is adjacent to Malbau Market and densely populated with residential houses, where parking complaints were frequent, and recently, a large apartment complex was built, making parking difficulties expected to worsen.
Accordingly, Buk-gu invested 4 billion KRW secured through the 2021 Living SOC Complex Project competition to create a total of 62 parking spaces in a three-dimensional underground structure utilizing the sloped terrain.
In particular, the upper part of the Usan Public Parking Lot has been developed into Malbau Children's Park, equipped with children's playground equipment and exercise facilities, adding a function as a resting space for residents.
Additionally, an unmanned control system was introduced to enhance user convenience, and passageways considerate of transportation-vulnerable groups such as the disabled and elderly, along with elevators connecting to the upper level, were installed to improve resident convenience.
Buk-gu plans to open the parking lot free of charge until the 31st and switch to a paid system from the 1st of next month to ensure efficient operation, including prevention of long-term parking.
Moon In, the head of Buk-gu Office, said, “The newly created Usan Public Parking Lot is expected to greatly contribute to alleviating parking difficulties in areas densely populated with markets and commercial facilities as well as single-family houses,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create a convenient and pleasant urban living environment enjoyed by all residents.”
Meanwhile, Buk-gu is taking a step closer to the ‘10-minute Living SOC Renaissance Era’ by successfully completing major Living SOC Complex Projects initiated since the 7th local government term, including Jungheung Library, Sinyong Administrative Complex Town, Bandabi Gymnasium, Buk-gu Comprehensive Gymnasium, and Usan Living Gymnasium.
