[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 5th that it will participate in the Carbon Neutral Practice Points program implemented by the Korea Environment Corporation starting this year to promote a culture of practicing carbon neutrality.
The Carbon Neutral Practice Points system provides points that can be used like cash up to 70,000 KRW annually from the Korea Environment Corporation, based on the performance of customers participating in eco-friendly activities of private companies.
KT customers receive 100 won worth of Carbon Neutral Practice Points per transaction when they receive a mobile or email electronic receipt instead of a paper receipt at KT Plaza or agency stores. Electronic receipts reduce the hassle of loss and storage and help protect the environment.
KT stated that over the past 10 years, more than 20 million customers have used digital statements, reducing carbon emissions by 5,400 tons and effectively planting about 187,000 trees. To commemorate this, KT is conducting various activities, including the ‘Green World with Digital Statements’ campaign. Additionally, KT has joined ‘RE100 (Renewable Energy 100%)’ and declared full carbon neutrality by 2050.
Park Hyo-il, Executive Director of KT Customer Experience Innovation Headquarters, said, “We hope that through issuing KT electronic receipts, customers will have an easy opportunity to practice carbon neutrality in their daily lives.”
